What are the meaning and purpose of octave frequency analysis of the S-265 optional software? What are the differences, advantages and disadvantages compared to an ordinary sweep measurement?

The octave frequency analysis aims to measure the average level of relatively wide frequency band, allowing you to grasp the frequency characteristics in a real environment. When measuring the frequency characteristics of a speaker, pink noise is generated, and the frequency characteristics of the entire band can be obtained at once.

The advantages compared to sweep are that measurements can be performed in a short time, peaks and dips can be averaged and displayed, and the signal output and microphone input do not have to be synchronized, meaning measurements can be performed even if there is a delay.

The disadvantages are the inability to measure harmonic distortion and the inability to see steep peaks and dips.
